Although last night was extremely difficult for our family, we knew deep in our hearts that this was the right decision. I was grateful that we were able to keep Dusty during the last three months, and it gave us time to mourn the loss that was about to come. In the end, I am happy to know that he gave us so much joy and special memories for the last 14 years. I will always treasure those memories and keep them close to my heart. His life will be remembered, and not the loss of it. Thank you everyone for all the kind words.
Even though I miss him terribly, especially at night, when he cuddled right next to me on the couch, I decided to dive into my sewing room and to keep my mind off of my sorrow. I needed to sew a few things for Olivia and my shop, so I started with my corduroy stash. I am still waiting on my corduroy to arrive, but I initially ordered a small amount on the internet. The pattern I used was a vintage pattern from Simplicity. I believe it was the blog of Confessions of a Craft Addict that caught my attention to this pattern. I loved the way she put her outfit together, but I especially liked the pattern. I looked for something similiar everywhere, but never found anything that came remotely close, so I found and bought the pattern she used.
The pattern is rather easy, and since it is older, it is not fully lined. This makes it perfect for the lightweight corduroy I wanted to use. I cut out a size 1 for Olivia after taking her measurements and comparing them to the pattern. I cut out the pattern exactly as I should, however lengthened the lining about an inch. I also shortened the hem from 3.25″ to 2″. I love this cut, and the shape of the skirt. Thank goodness it fit Olivia perfectly.
The pants are from Ottobre 3/2003. I cut out the size 68 and lengthened it to a size 74. I embroidered the leg, and then decided last minute to add the ruffle, not sure whether it would look good with this top. I will have to wait for Olivia to try the pants on to determine whether or not I will ruffle the hem or leave as is. Of course, the waistband was perfect, and I used the Ottobre method. The embroidery as seen below is from Huups Stickmuster.

This is just an adorable outfit. Love love love that strawberry fabric and the way you put your fabrics together.
So sorry to hear about your “puppy”. I know, I call all dugs puppies. LOL.
What an absolutely adorable outfit! Makes me long for a little girl to dress…
such a sweet little outfit. i think i have that same simplicity pattern. does it have little overalls for boys? i made a ton of those for my boys when they were little.
Yes Teri, that is the one. Everytime I buy a vintage pattern, my mom always says “Oh I remember that one.” Thank goodness some of those old patterns are still around.
How cute is that! Love it. And I am so sorry about your puppy. That is always hard.
