An orchestra of horns.

Astrid has inspired me to take my camera outside, and to photograph my most favorite time of the year.  Although my garden is currently small, I am still proud of what I have.  When we moved here, there was nothing.  The front had a small garden, but truthfully it looked very disorganized and confused.  My thought was that the earlier owners just randomly disposed of their interior plants outside.  Thus my immense amount of Lilies.  They are truly gorgeous, and the smell is oh so nice.

The backyard had no flowerbed whatsoever.  One lonely oaktree stood in the middle of the yard.  We made a path to that tree, and lined the stones with boxwoods, which now have a pretty shape and size.  We also planted trees, shrubs and flowers along the fence to create a hopefully beautiful view from the house one day.  I am sure we will never see it, because we move so often, however I hope someone else will enjoy it.  In the meantime, I get to enjoy my Lemon tree, peach tree and pear tree, as well as my gardenias, hydrangeas, and various other beautiful flowers.  Now if I could just put my sewing room outside!!!

Alot of everything!

My sewing is a representation of everything going on in my mind.  Too much of everything, and no clear path to anything.  I am just zipping through alot of different patterns that I have always wanted to play with.  Before I finish one pattern, I am already thinking of variations of another.  One of my favorite tops for little girls is the Peasant top.  No matter what age, 2 or 42, I like to see this top on females – young or old.  I like it as a blouse or a top, with short sleeves or long sleeves.  I like the way the japanese make it simple and elegant in linen or gauze, or how country and western it can look with various different prints.  It is easy to make, and easy to wear.  Here is my first peasant blouse.

I found the japanese print at JA’s, and used it as my test fabric.  There will be more of these.  The rest are just Olivia modeling the shirt.  She loves to play in my old Monet jewelry, thus the long pearl necklace.

I ended changing a few things on this pattern, and I will definitely make my next garment cleaner.  I cut this pattern out and sewed it in less then two hours.  It was alot of fun.  Now that I know my changes look ok, I am going to make the dress I want.  I also plan on making a pair of cotton/linen pants to match the top.  I will post my other outfit tonight, when I finish the pants.
